Muskoka Cottage and Home Sales Up

The number of Cottage and Home that were sold in Muskoka Haliburton on the MLS System for the month of October was up according to the Sales Activity Report released by CREA. Home sales numbered 227 units which is 1% higher than 2012 while sales of cottages was 159, an increase of 11%. The median price for a residence was $220,000 in October which is up 7% over last year while cottages were $334,640, down 7%. Sales of recreational properties which include vacant waterfront and cottages totalled just over 80 million representing a 10% increase.  Home Sales were just over 51 million, up 4% from 2012. The Muskoka Haliburton Real Estate Board covers a vast area of Cottage country that stretches from Orillia to north of Sundridge and South River. There are some regions to the east of the district that are covered by both the Muskoka and Parry Sound Real Estate Boards. The areas of Whitestone, Dunchurch and Magnetawan are represented by both as are Ahmic Lake, Lake Cecebe, Horn Lake and Whitestone Lake. Some of the larger lakes in Muskoka are also in an overlap area such as Lake Roseau, Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph and Big and Little Whitefish Lakes.
