The weather in the Parry Sound - Muskoka region has started to become cooler and soon the leaves will begin to change colour. One of the best ways to enjoy the autumn colours is to take a hike down one of our area trails! Magnetawan is a quiet place to enjoy nature during the off season at the cottage.
The pictures below are taken along the Magnetawan Dam Trail, which is located at the locks between Ahmic Lake and Lake Cecebe. The trail has a multiple loops and is approximately 1.2 kilometers long. You might also want to check out the Cornelia Levering Broadmeadows Trail off of Golf Course Road. Both the Dam and Broadmeadows Trail are accessible in the winter for snowshoing.
If you are a biker you may be interested in the Ahmic Lake Bicycle Route. This loop circles Ahmic and Neighick Lakes along Highway 124/520, Nipissing Road, and Ahmic Lake Road. This route is a beautiful fall trip if you are out to admire the leaves.
When exploring our local hiking opportunities be sure to keep your dogs leashed and remove all trash and waste if picnicing. Keep your eye out for our historical plaques as well!
For more trails in the area check out Discovery Routes, a fantastic resource for outdoor enthusiasts.
