Muskoka Real Estate - 2017

The current real estate market has been very strong with records being broken regularly. The median price for a Muskoka cottage has been rising and for April 2017 it stood at $485,000, a 30.4 % increase over April last year. Larger waterways generally command higher prices with smaller lakes and riverfront property allowing a lower pricepoint for those looking to own a cottage at a more afforable price.

There are several factors benefiting the real estate market. Demographics, with many people wanting to retire to our beautiful area, sell their homes in Toronto and use the equity to puchase. International buyers are also buying many lakefront properties viewing Canadian real estate as a flight to stability for capital. The fact that most of the lakes in Muskoka are under 2 hours from Toronto is also a factor in the regions popularity.
